Elfrida “Frida” Flora McDiarmid
George Frances was born on May 7, 1911 in Wales. He married Elfrida “Frida” Flora McDiarmid (daughter of Charles McDiarmid and Angela Aurella (Allison) McDiarmid on June 30, 1935, in Princeton. At the time of their marriage, George Francis was working as a mill hand at a mill in Hedley. He died at home in Princeton on February 23, 1960. At the time of his death, he was working at the BC Department of Highways and was separated from his wife, Frida.
The Francis’ were living in Hedley when their son was born in May 1936.
He joined the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #52 on January 29, 1945. At that time, he was the shift foreman at Allenby Mill.
He was one of the men instrumental in the formal organization of the Princeton Welfare Council, representing the Mine Worker’s Union.
He was a Princeton Star subscriber September 1935, June 1942, 1945-1947. Address: Princeton.
