Frembd, Heinrich August Grant “Henry”
Vera Mabel (Miller) Frembd (1914-1982)
Son: Fred Frembd
Heinrich (Henry) Frembd was born on September, 9, 1897 at Otter Valley. He was the son of Frederick Frembd and Katie Ann (Coffers) Frembd. He married Vera Mabel Miller on October 7, 1939 in Vancouver. At the time of his marriage, he was working as a farmer at Tulameen. He died February 2, 1986. At that time, he was a resident of Princeton and a retired carpenter.
After his father died in December 1918, it appears Henry turned to logging. In February 1920, the Princeton Star reported that L.N. Marcott[e] had a crew of loggers working on the Frembd Ranch, cutting logs for Nicola Pine Mills. In March 1928, it was reported that he had been busy logging all winter and had shipped nearly one hundred thousand feet of cottonwood logs to Laminated Materials Ltd. in New Westminster. He also had about six thousand ties ready for delivery to the Kettle Valley Railway Co.
He was a baseball player and played catcher and fielder on the Tulameen baseball team in 1921.
He defended the coyote cull in 1929 in a letter to the editor of the Princeton Star. That same year, two of crown granted land he owned (Lots 274 and 275) were up for sale for unpaid taxes.
He donated $2 to the Blakeburn Relief fund in 1930. They left the farm in 1935 and returned 1965-66. They owned the house on the corner of Merritt Road. The schoolhouse located on one corner. [source unknown]
In 1942, he joined the newly organized Pacific Coast Rangers: Corporal Henry Frembd Nominal Roll “A” Detachment, No. 80 Company.
Henry and Vera were living in Hatzic in June 1944.
