Frew, William Samuel “Bill”
Isobel Mcwhirter (1895-1933)
William Samuel Frew, according to military records and the 1901 Scotland Census, was born in Scotland in 1894. He was a member of the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) in 1914. His military regiment was 3616. Bill was a Sergeant, and his Service number was 2466. He was discharged on May 10, 1919.
Worked at Blakeburn before and after war service until 1930. Survived explosion in 1930 (only man to do so?). He was married to Isobel Mcwhirter (1895-1933). Together they had two children Alex (1920 – 1981) and Margaret (Gretta) (1924 – 1982). They were living in Blakeburn in 1931 (Census Info.). One of the last men to live in Granite City.
Bill died September 15, 1976 in Vancouver and is interred at the Princeton Cemetery.
