Adams Livery Stable (Business)
Adams Livery Stable in Princeton was owned by R.N. Adams from 1915 to 1917.
He purchased the business from Nenian “Neil” Huston (who owned it along with his brother, “Len” from 1907 to 1910). After 1910, Neil Huston carried on the business as a sole proprietor until around July 1915.
The stable owned by the Huston Brothers was known as the Princeton Livery and Feed Stables, or variations on the name. Adams kept the name but the business was known locally as Adams Livery Stable.
Adam’s Livery had it’s beginnings in 1905 when Thomas Hunter leased stables in Princeton and planned to conduct and up-to-date livery and feed business.” Hunter sold to Huston Brothers in 1907.
The stable was located opposite Hotel Jackson.
After purchasing the stable, Adams planned to add a flour and feed business (1915) and he hired E. Foyle Smith to be the manager. In addition to the flour and feed business, he added a stage to Copper Mountain (1917).
In November 1916, the stable was broken into and a small amount of cash taken.
Adams sold the business to Frank C. Buckless on June 1, 1917.
