Bond, Frank, Jr.
Norma (Baltzer) Bond
Janet Bond __Frank Bond __ __4 daughters
BOND, Frank September 12, 1916 to February 1, 2010 Born in Milton of Balgonie, Scotland, Frank died peacefully after a full and wonderful life. His family emigrated to Canada when he was six, and settled in the coal-mining town of Blakeburn, BC. Like other young men who came of age during the Depression, he tried his hand at many jobs throughout the country, and later joined the Army, rising to the rank of Lieutenant, during World War II. While waiting to be sent overseas from Halifax, he met Norma Baltzer. When he returned to Canada in the spring of 1945, they married and travelled to BC where they raised a family of four daughters. They moved many times over the years, but settled in Victoria in 1960 where Frank later became the Manager of CHEK TV. After retirement, Frank had time to indulge his love of golf at the Cedar Hill Golf Course, and together with Norma, travelled widely, grew beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and spent time with their five grandsons. Though his health had declined in recent years, he accepted life’s changes with grace and patience and was always appreciative of the many kindnesses he was shown. He was witty and wise to his last day. Frank was predeceased by Norma, his wife of 63 years, in January of 2009 and by his oldest daughter, Carol, in 2007. He was also predeceased by his brother Jim, sister Lorna, and sons-in-law Bill, Ken and Jack. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Sharon, Barb (Ray) and Jan (Lance), grandsons Steven, Brian (Kim), Scott, Keith and David, as well as six great-grandchildren, brother Bob, sister Neen (Bobby), brother-in law Harvey (Darlene), sisters-in-law Greta, Sally and Bonnie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
