Susan Florence (Whittaker) Bradshaw (1868-1945)
Thomas Bradshaw was born around 1864. He married Susan Florence Whittakern (February 1, 1868 – June 8, 1945) in 1884 in Yorkshire, England. They settled first in the Boundary region of BC and then came to the Similkameen in 1899. They had an orchard between Hedley and Keremeos, BC. The Great Northern Railway erected a station near their home and called it “Bradshaw Station.” He died May 29, 1929 in Princeton, BC. He was survived by his wife, Florence, one son (Leonard) and one daughter (Edith).
Tom Bradshaw, an old Indian Army veteran, was a prominent figure with a ranch and roadhouse, famed for his hospitality. Bradshaw Creek was a stopping place on the Vancouver, Victoria & Eastern line (V.V & E. Railway). Bradshaw creek rises to the North East in the direction of the mine. Geologically there is a Bradshaw fault interrupting the orebody. Dave Taylor notes Similkameen System.
