Edgar Moir Allison was born on July 4th, 1869 in Princeton, BC. He was the oldest child of John Fall Allison and Susan Louisa (Moir) Allison. He was baptized on September 8, 1869 at the Christ Church in Yale, BC.
He married Louisa Murphy (of Hope, BC) on June 15, 1892. At the time of their marriage, Edgar was working as a farmer in Princeton. Louisa and Edgar divorced and he remarried. He married Margaret Jane Miller (of Chilliwack, BC) on December 22, 1897. At the time of his second marriage, he was living in Chilliwack and working as a farmer.
He died on December 23, 1943 at Mount Baker Road, Abbotsford, BC. His death registration lists the location of his death as unknown. He is buried in Chilliwack Cemeteries.
Edgar Allison ranched at Sardis in 1887.
According to the Similkameen Star (December 1937)
Edgar Allison staked the old Capt. Luard crown grant (later known as the Allison townsite) and Capt. Luard’s son appeared to claim the land. Edgar paid “something like” $150.00. However, his sister Susan Louisa “Louisa” Johnstone, says he staked a portion of that land, adjoining Herbert Thomas’s place (1938).
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Allison attended a Christmas dance in Princeton in December 1900.
He had a timber sawing contract for the Tulameen Bridge with Angus Carlson in June 1901.
Edgar Allison may have returned to Princeton after his marriage as the Similkameen Star (July 19, 1902) reported that he had left for the Chilliwack District where he intended to live.
He suffered an attack of the measles in February 1905.
In October 1911, he had an accident with his two horse team (frightened by passing automobiles). At the time he was living in Chilliwack and hauling mining supplies.
