Adrian Stuart Baillie was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 30, 1891, and died June 3, 1959, in the Penticton General Hospital. He is buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Pentiction, BC. He was orphaned at age eight by his parents George Baillie who was a structural engineer and Gertrude Baillie who was a medical doctor. He lived and attended school in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with a Quaker family until he was 13. He travelled about the country and completed his education. In WWI, he worked as an accountant in Denver, Colorado. He lived in Englewood, Colorado and moved to Silverton, Montana. In 1920, he was employed by a mining company in Butte, Montana. His friend Charles Bocking left to work for Granby Co. and Baillie followed in 1923 (Anyox). While living in Anyox, Adrian Stuart Baillie married Annie Edith Lawn on June 2, 1928 in Vancouver, BC.
He was appointed liquidator when Anyox closed in 1935. He came to Copper Mountain in 1936 as Vice President & General manager. It was mainly due to his efforts that Granby reopened in 1936 at Copper Mountain. He retired in 1950. His first marriage was in 1914. He was well-known for the part he played in re-opening operations at Copper Mountain where he stayed from 1937 – 1951. He was active in Anyox, Northern British Columbia, Allenby and Copper Mountain, he was General Manager and President of the company.
