DeBarro, Charles
Charlie BeBarro was one of 1st placer miners at Granite Creek where he “struck it rich.” When he went looking for gold in South America and South Africa he lost most of it. He returned to Granite Creek.
Thynne and DeBarro were the proprietors of the Otter Flat Hotel in April 1900. On April 28, The Similkameen Star reported that they would be opening the doors of the hotel soon. It was expected that the hotel would be a great boon to miners and prospectors and serve as well as a summer fishing and hunting resort. In connection with the hotel, there was to be a store “carrying a full line of miners supplies.” Charlie DeBarro was to be the manager of the hotel and store.
He died at the home of his old fried D. McKay, Otter Valley, on July 26, 1909. The funeral was held at Granite Creek.
