Fitzgerald, Richard “Dick” “Fitz”
In 1909, Dick Fitzgerald “Fitz” worked in a number of areas: his mine on Granite Creek, prospecting on Whipsaw Creek, located and worked the “Molly Reilly” claim on Whipsaw Creek.
The next year, 1910, he was working the Center Star group at Whipsaw Camp.
In 1911, he reopened an 18 foot shaft on Watch Creek, looking for gold. He also was part of a deal to install a 5-stamp mill on his property, Crown Point, at Granite Creek.
He was still mining in 1914, working the Moonlight group at Granite Creek. Trapped animals with Bill Dunn (1920).
Trapped at the head of Granite and Fifteen Mile, in 1912: 1 coyote, 1 fisher, 2 horned owls, 26 weasels, 20 lynx. Income for winter of 1911-12 was $600. Had traps and supplies stolen.
