Clara Foster was born on October 2, 1918 in Quishaurcancha, Peru. She was the daughter of William Russell Foster and Charlotte (Stenhouse) Foster. She married Antony “Tony” Affleck (son of R.D. Affleck, Princeton school principal) on December 27, 1941 in Vancouver, BC. At the time of their marriage, Antony was working as an assayer at Bayonne Consolidated Mines, Bayonne, BC, and Clara was working as a nurse and living in Princeton. She died on August 21, 2001 in Burnaby.
The Foster family was very musical, her sister Gertrude in particular. In September 1939, Clara sang a duet with Beryl Lawrence at the Princeton school band dance. The fund-raising dance was held in the Orange Hall. Selections: You’re the Only Star, You Meet the Nicest People, The Little Old Cathedral in the Pines.
She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Vancouver General Hospital in 1942. She began her nursing career in Trail, BC.
