Robert Charles Foster was born in 1916 in Alberta. He was the son of William and Amy Victoria Garwood Foster. He died on August 24, 1944 in Italy, as the result of a land mine explosion. He is buried in the Ancona War Cemetery in Italy.
He was a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Engineers, 1st Field Company during World War II.
Previous to enlisting early in 1941 he was on the engineering staff of Granby Consolidated. He had graduated from the University of Alberta in 1938. He went overseas early in 1942 and had been in action with the 8th Army in Italy since Ortona.
