Eleanor was born in Sarnia, Ontario on November 1, 1853. She died in Vancouver on October 23, 1950 and interred at Kamloops. She was the half-sister of Emma Cook (wife of Foxcrowle Percival Cook). Eleanor Irwin arrived at Granite Creek on horseback in 1886 with her husband, Archibald. She was known to lead the singing at informal church services held at Granite.
