The president of the Mining Association of BC began his career in 1949 with Granby Mining as director he was responsible for putting the Phoenix, Jedway and Granisle mines into production. J. Harvey Parliament Newmmont Mines Limited announes the retirement of J. Harvey Parliament as president January 31, 1983. He will reamin a Director of the company. Mr. Pariliament has had a long career in mining in BC, starting as a prospectot in 1934. Prior to joining Newmont in 1968, he was Executive Vice President of Granby Mining Company. He had an important role in the development and operation of a number of major BC mines. He was formerly a director ogf Sherritt Gordon Mines and Cassiar Asbetos Corporation and from 1977 to 1979 he was President of the Mining Association of BC. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of BC and a life member of the C.I.M.M.
