Fay, Tom
Tom Fay had a ranch on the south side of the river, opposite Holmes and Jamieson’s, near Five Mile Creek where Fletch Anderson is now; along with Tom Cole. They each had separate cabins. When Tom Fay died, his preemption was taken up by J. Norman.
According to Henry Nicholson: “On the upper discovery claim, over $800.00 was taken out in one day, and a little below this claim Tom Fay had a fraction (25 feet) which he worked with a rocker, banking the dirt in the forenoon and washing it in the afternoon, and with the sun shining on the dirt, the gold could be plainly seen in the gravel.”
