Ed Cook was born At Granite Creek, BC. He met his wife, Jean, while he was operating the F.P. Cook Estate Store in Coalmont, BC. They closed the Coalmont store and moved to Vancouver in 1940 where Ed worked for the BC Electric Company. Ed and Jean moved back to Princeton, BC, a few months later to run the store as Perley Russell (the current operator) was retiring and moving back to New Brunswick. Ed ran the F.P. Cook Estate store for twenty years.
Ed Cook was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Rotary Club, and was on the board for the Princeton Hospital (at one time being Chairman).
Ed and Jean purchased the Thynne Lake Ranch and moved there in 1963. After ten years, they returned to Princeton where Ed read meters for the Princeton Light and Power Company.
