Walter Edwin Corbett (Walter Jr.) was the eldest son of Walter and Edith Corbett of Allenby. He was born on September 29, 1916 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He died on August 22, 1995 in Prince George Regional Hospital.
He attended school in Allenby. He was a member of Allenby 1st troop boy scouts in 1930 and a junior fire warden in 1932. In April 1932, he was confirmed in St. Cuthbert’s Church by the Most Reverend A.U. DePencier, Archibishop of New Westminster.
Corbett married Florence Eileen Carmichael in Chilliwack, BC on September 24, 1938. They moved to Princeton in September 1938, moving into Mrs. Steel’s house on Fenchurch Avenue.
He enlisted with the Canadian Army at some point before December 1944 as the Similkameen Star reported that he was “on leave from the East.” He was a recipient of the Elk’s Smoke Fund cigarette shipments and was serving as a sapper in June 1945. His death registration lists his occupation as “Canadian Army Department of National Defence.”
His second marriage was to Joyce Booth.
