Palmira Helrigel was born in Macugnaga, Province of Novara, Italy on October 19, 1886. She married Alexander Corsi at some time before 1911/1912. After he died in 1932, she married John Battista/Benucci Vittoni “Battiste” (1884-1969) around 1933. She died in Mt. Paul Hospital in Kamloops, BC, on November 27, 1971. She is buried in the Princeton Cemetery.
Alexander and Palmira Corsi came to Canada in 1909. Five of their seven children were born in Greenwood, or on “The Motherlode” claim near Greenwood. Tuffy and Etta were born at Copper Mountain. So the Corsi family must have come to the Similkameen sometime after 1916 but before 1922. They lived in Allenby and then moved to Copper Mountain in 1925.
She was a member of the Women’s Institute in 1954.
She celebrated her 80th birthday on October 22, 1996. Members of her family were: Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ferguson, Johnny Corsi, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Corsi (Merritt), Cheryl Taylor (Princeton), Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Marsel and Gary Corsi.
