Esther (Merritt) Coulthard (1870-1954)
J.O. Coulthard was heavily interested in the Roany Hydraulic Proposition on Granite Creek. He had a mining claim at Hedley prior to 1896 – unworked because of insufficient financing. Sim. Star 1914. Sim. Star Feb 2, 1904 (?)
He applied to the Mining Recorder for a Certificate of Improvements for the purpose of obtaining a Crown grant for the Roany Mineral Claim on the Tulameen River about nine miles from its junction with the Similkameen River on January 1, 1901.
The Coulthard family was living in Roanie Camp in August 1905. Coulthard held a Free Miner’s Certificate (B3970).
On October 9, 1914 there was an application for the transfer of the liquor license of the Tulameen Hotel from Kirkpatrick & Coulthard to W.J. Kirkpatrick as Coulthard had severed his connection with the business.
The Coulthard family left Princeton in 1914 but returned sometime before 1932..
