William Ewart was born on November 9, 1877 in Scotland. He married Maggie Muir in 1909.
He died in Vancouver, BC, on October 9, 1954. At the time of his death, he was a retired hardware store merchant (retired in 1945).
He was a director of Princeton Light and Power Company from 1937 to 1954.
The Ewart family almost immigrated to Canada on the Titanic but because of his wife and daughter, they opted for a thriftier travel option and chose a smaller vessel.

An avid golfer, he did a great deal in the set up of the golf course. Led a movement that failed to get off the ground.
