Myrtle Garrison was born on July 1, 1913, in Princeton, BC. She married George Lewers on February 20, 1941, in Princeton, BC. She died on January 25, 2001, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
At the time of their marriage in 1941, Myrtle was working as a clerk and living in Princeton. George Lewers was a salesman living in Kelowna, BC.
Her husband, Dex Lewers, enlisted at some point before December 1942 when The Similkameen Star reported that he was in Princeton on leave during the Christmas season.
In February 1943, she donated 2.00 to the Princeton fund-raising efforts for Canadian Aid to Russia Fund, sponsored by the Ukrainian Canadian Association
The couple seem to have drifted back and forth between Kelowna (where his parents lived) and Princeton (where her parents lived) between 1941 and 1946. Their daughter, Beverley Ann Lewers, was born in Princeton on April 24, 1944. In September 1945, Myrtle (and baby Beverley) travelled to Washington where she expected “stay two months at Chelan with her sister.” [Mrs. H. Blackwell]
When Dexter Lewers returned from service overseas in February 1946, the couple expected to live in Kelowna, BC, but by June 1946, the family was settled in Vernon, BC.
