William “Bill” Manring was born on March 15, 1901, in Idaho, USA. He married Pearl Lyon. He died on May 5, 2001, in Kelowna General Hospital.
Bill Manring came to the Osprey Lake area with his wife, Pearl, and his parents, Samuel and Nellie Manring, and younger brother, Jord Manring in 1925. William and Jord took up pre-emptions in the Osprey Lake area.
According to Clare (Sellers) Eaton, in Princeton Our Valley, Bill and Pearl Manring’s place was “twenty miles up the valley from Princeton.”
In September 1931, Bill Manring and William Simpson published a notice in The Princeton Star, that they intended to apply for a license to take, and store, water out of Hayes Creek (also known as Five Mile Creek).
At the time of Billie Mae’s birth in 1934, they were living at Jellicoe.
