Born Mabel Knudson at Rosedale, Manitoba, Feb. 1st, 1888 she was the daughter of John Kundson, one of the soldiers who helped suppress the 2nd Riel Rebellion. The family moved to Nelson, B.C. in 1898 when Mabel was 10 years old and about 1908 or ’09 they had come to Princeton by way of Kermeos. Mr. Knudson built the first Anglican Church building in Princeton and played in the first Princeton band. Mabel married Mr. Ben Prosser who started the first harness shop in Princeton 1906 – 08 and served on thne 1958 Centennial Committee. Mrs. Prosser has been a hard worker in the Ladies Aid and other groups all her life. A sister, Hannah, was an ensign in the Salavtion Army and was drowned at the sinking of the Empress of Ireland, two months before the start of World War I. Mrs. Mabel Prosser was the first Secretary (then Knudson) of the Ladies Orange Lodge which was started Sept, 23, 1914.
