Entered the service of the Hudson’s Bay about 1814, came to the Columbia River in 1823, was appointed a Chief trader in 1831, and the same year succeeded Peter Skene Ogden in charge of the Snake River expeditions (see this chapter infra) He was appointed one of the manager’s of the Company’s affairs west of the Rockies, moved to Victoria, Van. Is. in 1894 and died in 1861 on back of card – there is no reason why there should be any trouble 8X lines
