Ashford, H.E.D.
Newly married, and an early minister in the new church, he was an outgoing, vigorous, athletic type. He roped in all the young bachelors to service, then coached and refereed the hockey games. The church was packed every Sunday. They named their first child after Hugh Hunter, with whom Herb argued theology and anything else that came to mind, much to their mutual enjoyment. Sadly after a year they announced they were leaving for China – as missionaries for 10 years – His wife, Evelyn contracted some Tropical disease and they returned to Vancouver where Herb had several churches and in the late 1960’s were in Regina (When Ray Hueys lived there)
