Plate – souvenir of First Shipment of china ware to enter Canada via Hudson Bay route. Middle of plate has a white background and a map of Canada showing route from Liverpool, England to Churchill, Canada. Pottery stamp reads Alfred Meakin, England. THE S.S. Pennyworth, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, left Antwerp on August 2 1932. On August 17 she was berthed in Churchill and preparing to discharge cargo, the first commercial cargo ever to enter Canada through the new port. Donated by Mrs Evelyn McCallum.
