3 dinner forks – the smaller fork has 1847 Rogers Bros, AL – All 1847 Rogers Bros is silver plate. The brand was first used in 1922, the Jubilee year for Rogers development of the process for electroplating silver onto base metal flatware and hollow ware in 1847.
The other fork has E, T T & Co, S Encore, EP – THOMAS TURNER & CO, T. TURNER & CO LTD Sheffield, Active in electroplating from 1883 at Suffolk Works, 1 Suffolk Rd, Sheffield (1867-1940). The firm changed to T. Turner & Co Ltd in 1918. In 1919 it became part of Sheffield Cutlery Manufacturers Ltd, an amalgamation led by Needham, Veall & Tyzack. In 1932 the firm fell in bankrupt and the business was bought by Viners. The firm used the trade marks ENCORE, PEDIGREE SILVER, TALBOT (pewter wares: 1920’s and 1930
The 3rd fork – has JR & S, followed by a circle and ? a c, then EP for electro plated. The firm was established by John Round in Sheffield in 1847 as a small familiar workshop attached to his house in Tudor Street. The business proved successful and the firm in partnership with his son Edwin went under the title of John Round & Son. In 1874 the firm became John Round & Son Ltd
