Flintlock Musket. Hudson Bay Trade Musket – belonged to John Allison. Used whilst surveying Allison Pass. Identifying marks are brass serpent on stock of rifle. Engraving on metal plate that trigger hammer is attached to states I Hollis and Son – Makers to her Majesties War Dept. Natural vanished wood stock. 54″ long, ramrod stored under barrel. Barrel length is 30.5″. Gun was given to Gordon Evans by H.H. Thomas (Bert) who was Phyllis Millers father. In turn, Eugene Evans (son of Gordon Evans) then returned it to the Princeton Museum. The Evans and Thomas’s were not related, but good friends. John Fall Allison was father-in-law to H.H. Thomas.
