Astrid Peterson was born in Hatsel, Norway on July 20, 1886. She came to Canada in 1912 and three days after arriving, she married Hans Freding, a rancher in the Princeton area. The marriage was held at the home of Oscar Lind in Princeton on June 20th, 1912. She died in Vancouver on July 22, 1957. She is buried in the Castle Rock Cemetery, Princeton.
Their eldest son, Gordon was born April 6, 1913 in Princeton. Karl was also born in Princeton on November 19, 1916. They left the area and moved to Cut Bank, Montana, where Helen was born on February 16, 1918. They moved back to Princeton in 1919 and Astrid (Ester) was born September 24, 1921.
In October 1937, she attended (with her husband, Hans) an outing of the local fox breeders at Silver Lake Fur Farm (C.W. Albrecht) at Nicola Lake, BC. Hans Freding was the president of the Lower Similkameen Fox Breeders Association.
