David Forsyth was born on January 11, 1903 in Scotland. He was the son of David Forsyth and Ann (Shephard) Forsyth. He married Nancy Schubert on August 28, 1925 in Vancouver, BC. At the time of their marriage, they were both living in Tulameen and both working as clerks. He was educated in Princeton. He died on September 1, 1970 in Oliver, BC. At the time of his death, he was described as a retired truck driver working in the mining industry.
Forsyth represented the miners at the Princeton Collieries Board of Examiners (1922).
In 1933, he moved with his family to Blakeburn. In 1945, they were living in Tulameen.
