Antony “Tony” Affleck was born on May 9, 1918 in Dornock, Scotland. He was the son of Robert Dalton Affleck and Doris (Conran-Smith) Affleck. He married Clara Will Foster in Vancouver on December 27, 1941. His second wife was Lois Wilkins. He died on January 20, 1997 in Summerland General Hospital.
Tony Affleck attended school in Princeton from 1928 (first mention in the Similkameen Star) to 1934. He left Princeton in 1935 to attend the Provincial Normal School in Victoria and returned in April 1936. He attended university in Vancouver in 1940.
He was living in Allenby in 1938. (The Similkameen Star reported that he was spending time in the Princeton General Hospital’s isolation ward, having contracted measles.) He started work at the Allenby mine in June 1941, and returned to Vancouver in August 1941, presumably to continue his education.
His wife, Clara, began nursing in Trail, BC., in 1942. They returned to Princeton at some point before 1945, as he is listed as being in ‘active service’ in the Princeton section of the British Columbia and Yukon Directory for 1945.
