Swan Akerblade and family arrived from Nanoose, on Vancouver Island, in March 1923. The family moved into “the little house adjoining the Star office” in Princeton.
In April of the same year, he purchased an interest in the Darcy Mountain Lumber Co. sawmill.
The family moved into the school house at Darcy Mountain but a short while later in July 1923, it was reported that he had disposed of his interest in the sawmill.
In March 1925, the sawmill equipment was put up in a sheriff’s sale in order to pay debts the company still owed.
