36″ walking doll
36″ walking Doll – Note pinned to doll states ‘Olivia” was bought in 1970 from a United Church Rummage sale in Prince Rupert. Clothing late 1960 early 1970. States Shoes are on loan, but no shoes found with doll – museum card lists black velvet shoes and white patent shoes. These were found accessioned under 2020.654.001, by a summer student.
Doll has red hair, green/blue sleep eyes, dressed in plaid pants and top, blue underpants, and white and pink socks. Museum card advised that the clothes were worn by Kim when she was a child. Doll made by Regal in the 1960’s. Regal Toy Company Limited 1959-1984 Toronto, Canada. Writer not able to identify why it is called Olivia, ? the name given to the doll by the donor when she was a child. Doll is actually referred to as a Wendy Walker in the Regal archives online. Doll was disposed off January 2023 as she had sticky doll syndrome.
Doll appears to have Hard Plastic Disease – right arm has broken off, plastic is breaking down at leg joints, and the heels have worn away, 1 finger is also missing. For probable deaccession.
