Box of buttons and other items
Box of buttons and other items. Box is metal, looks like it could be silver plated, has a wood lining. Engraved with flowers and leaves around the sides. Has feet on each corner, but is missing one foot. Lid comes off and is heavy, decorated with a scene with people and animals. Is filled with various items such as buttons, collar studs, links for a watch, tie pin with a chain, a meccano key, and a political token states Vote for Bozeman for the capital, Nov 8th 1892. (Elections shape communities in a myriad of ways. In Bozeman’s case, investments in buildings, land and transportation during the late 1880s and early 1890s strove to influence the 1892 election, in which Montanans voted on the location of the state capital. Originally constructed to impress voters of Bozeman’s suitability as the permanent seat of government, many of these improvements had a lasting impact on the community’s development history.)
