Butter Churn
Glass butter churn. On front of glass jar it states – Blow Butter Churn 2/2. Made in England. 2 Imperial Quarts. On the metal top – It states Made in England, and the number 20. Glass jar is square, with a metal screwtop lid with a metal crank with a wooden handle, and wooden paddles inside the jar.
J. J. Blow Ltd. at Oldfield Works, Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield, England. This English maker of glass jar butter churns from about 1900 to 1940. They collaborated with the Dazey Churn company as well. ( Museum card called it a Daisy Butter Churn). Their glass butter churns evolved in their design. The earlier ones had square glass jars and open gearing at the top. Then the jar shape changed, and the gearing became enclosed with an egg-shaped cover. The latter ones had a clear tulip-shaped glass jar with enclosed gears.
