Coal scuttle shaped sugar bowl with shovel. Has EPNS stamped on the shovel and on the scuttle – has a large P inside a shield in between the EP and NS – which could be an indicator of the year it was made, or the maker. Electroplated nickel silver, commonly known as “EPNS”, is an alloy of nickel, copper, and zinc that’s covered with a layer of pure silver in an electro-chemical process. Shovel sits inside a holder at the front. Coal scuttle is very plain, no engraving as is common with other examples. Unable to date item at this time.
