Coffee urn/percolator
Coffee urn/percolator, with black handles on each side, three ornate Queen Anne style legs, and a lamp underneath that was run on alcohol or kerosene, which would have kept the coffee hot and would also cause the heat needed to allow it to percolate the coffee. Inside the pot is the coffee holder and percolater system. A tap on the front uses the gravity system to pour the coffee. The urn is chrome plated, with some rust spots noted here and there where the plating has worn away. Manufacturers mark on the coffee basket inside reads – Universal No.006. which was a trademark from the 1890’s. Landers, Frary & Clark, New Britain, Conn, USA. Gives a series of patent numbers and dates, the last one July 16 07 (for1907). The lamp at the bottom has Patd. Mar 20 06 (for1906) and July 17 06 (for1906). Therefore this item was probably made circa 1907. On Loan from Gloria Stout since 1965.
