Kerosene horsehair trimmer – as per museum card. Long brass colored handle that unscrews and this is where the kerosene/ paraffin is poured. Row of teeth at the front for grooming, and just above that writer can see a cotton wick inside the slot. Research shows that that is actually a singeing lamp or iron, the metal teeth act as a comb and hold up the hairs to be singed. The flow of kerosene can be adjusted using the screw on the top. Shell type pattern on each side of the comb section. Made in Sheffield, England, engraved into the adjustable knob, on the other side is a horse head, and someletters, but writer unable to read them.
