Margaret Eaton School Sweater
Navy blue Margaret Eaton School Sweater, worn by Dorothy. R. Frappier. Comes with a note about the school, which states that the school was founded by Lady Margaret Eaton, wife of Timothy Eaton in Toronto in 1901. It was the first ladies school in Canada. When the depression came, families could not afford the tuition, and it became a school for physical education and arts. Dorothy (nee Frappier) Muasee (? spelling) graduated in 1939 with a degree in P.E.
Internet search states that the school was founded by Emma Scott Raff in 1901, and was later renamed the Margaret Eaton school as she was the major benefactor. The school started off as teaching Literature and Expression, and moved to Physical Education, and Arts and Theatre. Its motto was Beauty and Fitness. The school clsoed in 1942 when it merged with Victoria Coloege. Scott Raff died in 1940.
