These stocking belonged to Carmen Cactot from Catalonia Spain. At the time she wore the stockings she was 8 years old and attending a convent. The stockings were probably knitted by her mother. The girl died shortly after from diphtheria. the knitting is of very fine cotton particularly in the lacy part.
