This is an oral history interview that is part of the collection at the Princeton and District Museum and Archives Society, Princeton, BC, Canada. These interviews were accomplished by amateur interviewers using inexpensive recording equipment, therefore, the quality is not up to modern archival standards. We are grateful that the volunteers involved made the effort to preserve these valuable memories.

Katie was such a beautiful, strong and talented woman. Katie could crochet so beautifully and cooked such amazing food.
It is an honour to be one of her Granddaughters.
I never thought I would hear her beautiful voice again…. thank you.

What a remarkable find! Grandma never wallowed on sad and tragic early years in Canada. She moved forward making a good life for family. Her kitchen table was always full, making sure that hungry stragglers were fed.
I hear not so much of the story she tells the interviewer, rather I see her in my mind bustling around her bright impeccable kitchen, serving coffee and undoubtably beautiful baking to the interviewer. A better grandmother was never made…

So glad I found this interview and was able to share it with family. It is such a blessing to hear my grandma’s voice again and I felt as though I was back at her kitchen table enjoying her warm and generous spirit. Thanks to the museum for capturing such an evocative interview which memorialized such an important piece of history.

This is exactly why we did it. Having these interviews locked away makes no sense. We are very happy to provide this service and truly appreciate the feedback!
