May Starks was born on May 20, 1871 at Baker City, Oregon. She married Albin Almstrom. She died on December 17, 1951, in New Westminster, BC.
In Phoenix, May Almstrom was an active member of the Pythian Sisters. She was installed as E.J. (Excellent Junior) Mountain Temple Lodge No. 17, at the Phoenix Pythian Hall in 1911; she was acting as M.E.C. (couldn’t find meaning of abbreviation) in 1912.
After the Almstrom family arrived in Princeton in October 1920, she became active in the Women’s Auxiliary of St. Cuthbert’s Church of England and was elected President in January 1921.
She helped at the Blue Birds’ Bazaar (a fund-raiser for the Ladies’ Hospital Auxiliary) in December 1923.
In May 1925, the Princeton Star reported that Mrs. Almstrom had taken over the management of the staff boarding house at Allenby. In 1926, she was one of the top customers of the Doerflinger bakery, buying 1130 loaves of bread for the Allenby camp in 1926.
