George Albert Angstadt was born January 18, 1915 in Aspen Grove, BC. He married Jean Blackwell January 9, 1943 in Princeton, BC. He died on September 29, 1995, at the Princeton General Hospital.
George Angstadt first tried his hand at being a cowboy on the Minnie Lake Ranch (east of Nicola Lake) but he found that wasn’t to be his calling. He followed his brothers to the mine in Blakeburn. During the war years, he was in the army at Williams Lake, “clearing trees for the installation of telephone/telegraph lines.”
At the time of his marriage in 1943, he was working as a miner and was a soldier attached to the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals (R.C.C.S). They were both living in Princeton.
In August 1946, the family lived next door to Mike Batie in the Allison subdivision.
For many years, he logged for the Taylor and Lind families. He worked for Northwood Sawmill and his late job was His last job was at the Princeton Post Plant. After retiring, he was a guard at the local jail.
Angstadt was interested in, and supported, first aid training. In late January 1941, he competed in the First Aid Whist Drive and Dance in Princeton. In June 1946 and June 1947, he competed in the annual first aid competitions of the Similkameen Valley Mine Rescue Association.
He was a member of the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department.
