Joan (Cornett) Armstrong was born in Vancouver, BC, and died in Keremeos, BC. Joan, George and their family moved to Princeton in 1965 where George took up a teaching position. George was born in Penticton and grew up in Keremeos. The Armstrong family were a pioneer family in Keremeos. Joan worked as a teacher’s aid from 1977 until 1990 at Riverside and Vermilion Forks Elementary schools in Princeton. They lived on Vermilion Street in the Stan Schisler house. The Armstrong’s raised their family in Princeton and in 2001, Joan and George returned to Keremeos where Joan lived until her passing.

Wherever Joan lived she became a valued member of the community, giving her time and energy to many community organizations and made many lasting friendships in both Princeton and Keremeos. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul/St. Cuthberts Church in Princeton and St. John the Divine Church in Keremeos.
