Jacob Banman was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan. He married Ethel Howson. He died on January 31, 1979, at the Princeton General Hospital and is buried in the Hedley Cemetery.
In 1933, Banman and family moved to Hedley from Penticton.
He enlisted with the Pacific Coast Rangers in 1942 (“D” Detachment, Hedley).
He competed on the Hedley teams for the Department of Mines Cup, Bocking Cup, and the Coalmont Shield in June 1944 and in June 1947, he competed on the Hedley team for the Bocking Cup (first aid and mine safety field day) and the team came in 2nd.
At the time of his death, he was a retired first aid man for the Department of Highways.
