Thomas Bryden was born January 26, 1891 at Old Wellington, Vancouver Island, BC, and was a relative of the late James Dunsmuir. He died on October 10, 1974 in Princeton, BC..
Thomas Bryden’s father, Andrew Bryden was a coal mine superintendent at the time when coal was used on boats, but before the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) was buying coal.
Thomas Bryden was living in Merritt, BC, when he married Isabella Nairn Clarke on December 3, 1914.
Thomas was working in Merritt at the age of 19 or 20, in the days of the first automobiles. Later he worked around Coalmont and at Blakeburn Mine. He helped to get out the bodies of those who lost their lives in the Blakeburn disaster. He last worked at the Blue Flame Mine in Princeton, BC.
Mary Bryden was his sister-in-law.
He was listed as a miner in the 1946 Directory.

He was awarded the Provincial Centennial Pioneer Medal in 1971.
