John (Ivan) Budak was born in Sveti Rok, Croatia. He was the son of Frane and Matija Budak. He immigrated to Canada in 1960, working all across BC and parts of Alberta, but most of his life in Canada was spent living and working in and around Princeton, BC. He died at the Ridgewood Lodge in Princeton, BC.
