W.J. Budd was the manager of the B.C. Portland Cement Co. in 1912. He arrived from Calgary, AB, on May 7, 1912 and left back to Calgary, on June 19, 1912. He returned to Princeton in October of 1912.
“He has built several large cement plants and is about to erect two more. He’s owner of a 8,000 acre ranch in Alberta, has large blocks of real estate, lives in a $50,000 residence, is largely interested in seven live industrial companies, and has cleaned up $700,000 in cash in the eight years he has been in Calgary, AB. Mr. Budd may justly be styled the ‘Cement King’ of the west. Withal he is affable and pleasing in manner, modest, reticent, unassuming, yet strictly straight business.” – Similkameen Star, September 9, 1937, page 2
