Pat Burns was born in Oshawa, ON, on July 6, 1856. He died on February 24, 1937. In 1901 he married Eileen Ellis (of Penticton) 1901. They had one son.
Accomplishments:
Pat Burns moved west in 1878. He supplied fresh meat to crews working along the highways and to miners in the Yukon.
Built slaughterhouse Calgary 1890.
Started Calgary Stampede (one of ‘big four) 1931.
Appointed to the Canadian Senate, gave up seat 1936.
With Blake Wilson took over Coalmont Collieries Ltd. 1918 after 1922 (Blakeburn); closed 1940.
