John Butler was married to Myrtle Graham (of Sigel, Wisconsin, USA) on July 7, 1920. He re-married in 1961 to Mrs. Barbara Payne in Ottawa, 1961.
Dr. Butler moved to Princeton from Vancouver in 1919. He had been practicing in Vancouver for some time and had been working as a dentist in Portland, Oregon, before moving to Vancouver.
Lieutenant-Colonel Butler was on Directorate of Dental services for the Armed Forces.
He was a native son of Princeton, educated here and at Victoria College and University of Toronto.
He was elected school trustee on July 13, 1938. He served a three-year term.
He lived in a house on Halliford Street (which was later bought by Community Services).
He was a graduate of North Pacific Dental College in Portland, Oregon, USA, and later on the faculty of that college before going into practice in Vancouver and then Princeton.
